Sweater Makeover

My sister loves anything dark purple and for the longest time she had this cute sweater hanging in her closet. Unfortunately, it was much to wide and bulky for her. So I set about to fix this most unpleasant problem.

Too bulky

First, I cut it down the center.

To prevent the ends from fraying, I sewed a zig-zag stitch close the edge of the raw ends.

Then, I folded the ends into the inside of the sweater and pinned them in place before sewing them down with a straight stitch.

Last, I hand-stitched a button hole (here's a tutorial on how to do that) and sewed on a button.

Now my sister has a pretty purple cardigan to wear!
